This study examined the perspectives of First Nations women from a reserve community in northwestern BC with mainstream healthcare encounters. Participants in the study identified attributes of both invalidating and affirming experiences within the healthcare system. The study highlights the need for cultural safety to be integrated into healthcare policies, practices, and educational programs.
