This study drew on the traditional knowledge of Kashechewan knowledge holders to enhance understanding about the nature and impacts of spring flooding in the southwestern James Bay region of northern Ontario. Findings reveal changes in the timing and extent of spring flooding in response to climate change, highlighting the usefulness of participatory techniques for ongoing flood monitoring and disaster risk reduction activites in this region and elsewhere.
