This article examines the Northern Ontario School of Medicine's roll out of their Virtual Visit simulated cultural communication scenarios in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The study finds medical students preferred in-person scenarios over virtual interactions, and that further training on the system is needed. Additionally, the findings underscore the importance of resolving negative feelings (eg discomfort, embarrassment, and anxiety) of medical students interacting with Indigenous patients in the safety of the classroom.
