This report brings together Indigenous and Western knowledge to support climate-health adaptation planning. It incorporates two knowledge synthesis projects. The first describes a scoping review led by the Public Health Agency of Canada and the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit that synthesizes knowledge from the literature on climate-health adaptation interventions relevant to Ontario across six climate-sensitive categories. These include time trends, geographic trends, characteristics of existing climate-health adaptation interventions, critical gaps in knowledge and practice, and how to apply results to both climate change and public health adaptation planning, and advance public health practice and knowledge. The second, written by the Cambium Indigenous Professional Services, presents the Indigenous perspective. It identifies the reasons why Indigenous voices have not been included in public health practice, introduces critical concepts of Indigenous ways of knowing and doing, and identifies some best practices that public health authorities must understand and apply to working with Indigenous populations concerning climate adaptation.
