The authors argue that a treaty-based approach is needed to address the COVID-19 pandemic in Indigenous communities. They invoke two clauses embedded in Treaty 6 that legally obligate the federal government to commit to ensuring sufficient financial resources and supports are directed to First Nations communities in their pandemic response.
