Responding to concerns by Liard First Nation leadership about the impact of COVID-19 on the mental health of youth, the authors conducted a study that evaluated the experiences of youth. The goal of the project was to provide advice to policy and decision-makers to support recovery from the pandemic, provide Liard First Nation with information to create strategies that protect and support their youth, improve policies and the process of health services and supports for youth, and identify gaps in mental health supports. Study findings highlight key barriers to recovery for youth and identify wise practices that can be taken to overcome these barriers and improve youth mental health.
