This webinar discusses how efforts to end TB can be strengthened by focusing attention on the structural drivers of the disease. It includes a keynote presentation delivered by Kelsie McGregor, a policy analyst with the Assembly of First Nations, and presentations by Stephanie Law, a postdoctoral fellow in epidemiology from McGill University, and Pushpita Samina, a PhD student at McMaster. Kelsie McGregor presented on the historical, epidemiological, and current management context of TB in Indigenous communities. Stephanie Law discussed rising TB rates in Nunavik, Quebec and a video project being used to engage Nunavik youth to share their experiences with TB care, with the goal of outlining key facets of effective community engagement and mobilization. Pushpita Samina shared information about a new collective database - SSHIFT - that provides up-to-date information about TB social science research.
