The authors determined the relative concentrations of OH-PCBs and other chlorinated phenolic compounds in the blood samples of Inuit from northern Quebec and a pooled blood sample from southern Quebec. The study found that concentrations of these contaminants were up to 70 times higher among northern Inuit adults compared to the southern Quebec pooled whole blood sample. The authors identified a possible role of OH-PCBs in mediating PCB-induced adverse effects, which needs to be investigated further.
